Gospel-Centered Church-Driven Kingdom-Minded Poverty Relief
Become a Partner with us
Our mission is to create partnerships between American churches and Dominican churches, empowering them to work together to reach the “least of these” (Matt. 25:40) in the Dominican Republic. Our focus is discipleship and development in communities throughout the Dominican Republic. We believe in the power of the gospel to restore brokenness and to uplift local churches to be a beacon of hope in their communities.
Short-Term Mission Trips
When you come with your church on a short-term mission trip, you will have an opportunity to learn about, encourage, and fellowship with a church in the Dominican Republic. Your short-term mission trip will have a long-term impact as you return to the same community year after year and you’ll see the ongoing impact of gospel-centered poverty alleviation.
Re-Vision’s logistics and trip support is unparalleled. Email us to find out how your church can take part in a short-term mission trip by clicking here.
Community Development
Your church may come for one week, but our work continues the other 51 weeks of the year. Throughout the year, we equip local churches to provide many gospel-centered initiatives in their communities. We hold to the practices of the Chalmers Center and Helping without Hurting curriculum.
In Matthew 25, Jesus speaks of serving the least of these in tangible ways. How we serve the least of these is a defining characteristic of a Christ-follower. Many of those we serve are trapped in generational poverty, which cannot be solved in a single week. Our partnerships with churches uses a gospel-centered strategy to solve the complex problem of generational poverty.
Personal Discipleship
We believe that faithfulness in missions is a form of discipleship. The relationships you build with brothers and sisters in Christ will enrich and challenge your own faith. You will pray, worship, work, and serve alongside brothers and sisters whose culture and world is different from yours, and both will grow from the experience. Your work with Re-Vision will change the way you approach poverty and see the world around you.
Most people come expecting to give, but they are often surprised by how much they receive. When people come together, God changes lives.
Our Dominican partners
Re-Vision is currently partnering with 7 churches in the Dominican Republic. In the 10 years we’ve been serving in the DR, we’ve partnered with many more. Several of the churches have been with us all ten years, and some are just in the beginning stages.
Our partner churches vary from established churches to brand new church plants, but what they have in common is a commitment to serve the poorest members of their community. Partnership with churches in poor communities means that much of the work we do serves to multiply the resources they have. We approach each community with a mentality of abundance instead of scarcity: in spite of the material poverty they face, we believe that they possess resources that can be multiplied by investment and support. The moment of “re-vision” is when they are empowered to see beyond their material poverty and begin working in hope to break the chains of generational brokenness.
Our American partners
American Churches play a vital role in our work in the Dominican Republic. Beyond the significant financial commitment of a short-term mission trip, US partners make a difference just by being present. Poverty relief is difficult work: the very act of traveling across international lines to lock arms with Dominican brothers and sisters offers a sense of encouragement and solidarity that is truly priceless.
Our partner churches in the US support Re-Vision’s ongoing work through financial gifts, constant prayers, and regular trips. Without US churches, there is no Re-Vision!
Because He came, we go
Go
In Matthew 28, Jesus gives the Great Commission to his disciples: “Go and make disciples.” Re-Vision facilitates the going of those who respond to the Great Commission. One of the most important aspects of our ministry is logistics for for over a dozen trips each year.
Make Disciples
When you come to the Dominican Republic you may hear the phrase “visión integral” in one of the churches. This phrase refers to our holistic approach to discipleship. We believe the gospel is for the whole human being. Poverty is not merely an issue of adding money to a bank balance, but of broken relationships that need to be restored. Biblical discipleship is the process of gospel restoration.
Restore
At the center of everything Re-Vision and its partners do in the Dominican Republic is the gospel. All ministry activities have as their aim the demonstration of the love of Christ that allows the Good News to be preached and received.
